what we've been up to

What I'm Reading (April 2018 - June 2018)

Soooo while I've been absent from the blogging world, I haven't taken a break from reading.  Since I did my last review at the end of March, I've read 24 more books.  Check out what I've been reading below and stock up on some books for the summer!  Enjoy!

I listened to the audio book of this on my way to school and I wasn't impressed.  It was a compilation of short stories and while some of them made me laugh, the book definitely fell short on my list.

One Less Problem Without You

Another audio book that was strange and really hard to get in to.  I definitely prefer to read books but I have a 45 minute commute to work and I found audio books made the time go faster.  Not my favorite.

The People We Hate at the Wedding

I honestly can't even remember what this book was about but I only gave it 2 stars so it must not have been very good.

Pretty Mess

I'm obsessed with The Real Housewives of basically anything so I was excited to read Erika Jayne's book.  I unfortunately wasn't impressed and thought the tone of the book was a tad whiny.

Maine

This would be a good beach read because it is not a book that you have to be paying close attention to.

Invincible Summer

This was another audio book that I listened to on the way to work and it definitely held my interest more than the first two.  I enjoyed the characters and I felt like we got enough information about each of them to make the story feel complete.  Cute book!

Confessions of a Domestic Failure

I'm pretty sure I lol'd through most of this book.  It definitely resonated with my mom side!

Other People's Houses

I felt like this was another book that spoke to my mom side.  I never could guess what was going to happen guess and it was an easy read.  Good one for summer!

The Ever After

I also read another one of her books that she coauthored and couldn't get enough so I went looking for more by her.  This book was good but it didn't compare to The Wife Between Us.

The Lying Game

I read this poolside in Florida and I definitely didn't see the end coming.  I might have skimmed some of the pages because it was a little wordy but I enjoyed it.

After You

Ok so I know I'm a little late hopping on the Me Before You bandwagon but I finally borrowed it from the library and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT.  However, I did not like After You as well.  I wont really talk about what happens because I don't want to spoil it, but I just wasn't sucked in like I was with the first book.  Maybe I was still in mourning after the first one.

Class Mom

Freaking hilarious are the best words to describe this book.  I wish I had a class mom like this in my own classroom.  So funny, guys, seriously go read it.

Do Not Become Alarmed

As a mom, this book terrified me.  I might never go on another cruise again.  Or at least with my kids.

It's Always the Husband

I liked this book because it bounced back between their younger days and present day.  I felt like they developed each character and connected them all together.  The last couple of pages took me by surprise and you would have never guessed it was coming.

The Perfect Stranger

Another audio book that I read and I couldn't wait to get back into my car again to find out what would happen next.  I think I would have liked it more if I was actually reading it, only because I sometimes wanted to go back and revisit a characters name, but it still was fairly easy to follow.

Pretty Girls

I have a love/hate relationship with books that make me kind of scared to close my eyes at night and this one was no exception.

The Wedding Date

This would make an excellent beach read!  Some parts were a little risqué so read with caution BUT it was still a really good book.

The Wife Between Us

SO good!  If you like books that keep you guessing, this is the one!

Dating You / Hating You

All these books are starting to run together but I must have liked this one because I gave it 4 stars!

The Stolen Marriage

I have a small obsession with Diane Chamberlain and I think this was my favorite book of hers that I've read so far.  It was heartbreaking but I could not put it down.  Very suspenseful!

Me Before You

I know I was late on jumping on this trilogy bandwagon but holy moly did I love this book!  I definitely wasn't happy with how it ended but I was sucked in the second I started. You will not be disappointed if you haven't read it yet!

Small Great Things

Jodi Picoult always tugs at the heartstrings and this book was no different.  I think this was probably one of my favorite books that I've read this year and I don't think I will be forgetting it anytime soon!

The Last Mrs. Parrish

I thought that this book and The Wife Between Us were very, very similar but I liked how the story played out in this one just a little bit more.

The Things We Keep

This book hit home for me, as we are dealing with an Alzheimer's diagnosis in my family, and I'm pretty sure I cried through most of it.  Sally Hepworth is one of my favorite authors and this book definitely was one of her best.

My goal is to read 100 books in 2018 and I think I made a pretty good dent in that goal so far!  Don't forget to click on the book title above the cover and it will take you to Amazon where they are having some great markdowns on books!  Take advantage, friends!  And as always, if you want to see all the books I've read this year, go check out my Goodreads account -----> click here .

Happy reading!
